Wolves’ winger Adama Traore is finally putting it together this season.

The 23-year-old’s talent has been always been obvious - you don’t come through Barcelona’s academy without possessing some ability - but he hasn’t been able to make best use of his gifts.

That is until now. Traore is having arguably his best season as a professional, earning rave reviews from Martin Keown last month.

“It’s a joy to see someone finally harness that incredible pace that he’s got,” Keown said Traore after the versatile player scored twice for Wolves in a 2-0 win against Manchester City.

“I’ve described him in the past as a learner driver at the wheel of a Ferrari, but now he’s passed his test and finally come good.”

It appears that Traore is now ready to make an impact on the international scene as well.

Born in Catalonia, Traore represented Spain at under-16, under-17, under 19 and under-21 level.

Traore switches to Mali

But he’s now made the switch to represent Mali - the country his parents were born - at international level.

The former Aston Villa player will look to help Mali when their 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers start later this month.

His arrival in the Mali squad may cause some confusion as it now means there are THREE Adama Traore’s in the team.

Traore - the Wolves one - joins Metz’s winger Adama Traore and Monaco’s attacking midfielder Adama Traore - who is on loan at, yes, Metz.

This is just too much for us to handle.

Imagine it on commentary.

“Adama Traore passes to Adama Traore. Adama Traore makes the run… Adama Traore finds him… and it’s a goal! Adama Traore scores for Mali!”

Wolves’ Traore was thought to be considering swapping his international allegiance to Mali in 2015.

He wasn’t ready to make a decision on his career back then - he was 19 at the time, and trying to establish himself at Aston Villa - but he’s now committed himself to Mali, where the chance to create a sea of confusion with his namesakes was just too much to turn down.
