We are privileged to have lived in the same era as Lionel Messi.
More and more football fans have come round to the view that the Argentine is, in fact, the greatest footballer to have ever played the game.
However, there will always be some who are unconvinced.
It's understandable that some of the Barcelona forward's compatriots prefer Diego Maradona, not least because he won the World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo also has his advocates. Again, the Portuguese has won a major international tournament with Portugal, has the same number of Ballon d'Ors as Messi (5) and has scored more career goals.

Rarely will you find anyone, though, who does not accept Messi to be a complete player - but that's the argument being put forward in one Twitter thread.
User @AntiLaportismo has put together a list of - and we're quoting directly here - "things that Lionel Messi can't do properly, or at least not consistently".
It might be expected that this would be a relatively short list. Yet a number of so-called flaws are included.
Some of these criticisms, like Messi not being strong in the air, are well-known.
The 32-year-old is also called out for not scoring on his weaker foot. It is true that he's never scored a perfect hat-trick.
Others are a little more dubious. For example, one tweet reads:
"When a team desperately needs a goal, shooting from distance can be the key. Messi doesn't have enough power/accuracy to surprise the goalkeeper."
Messi has scored some extraordinary goals from long-range and for the best free-kick taker in the world - who has scored more set-pieces alone in the last five years than any top European team - it's strange to accuse him of lacking power and accuracy.
And perhaps he'd shoot from further out more often if he wasn't such a good dribbler.

It's sure to rile Messi's army of fans.
The way Barcelona have played over the last 10 years has also influenced their talisman's style, hence why he is not regularly found tracking back or defending as would be expected of some attackers.
It just goes to show - even the great players will be criticised and potential flaws found in their game.News Now - Sport News
