Jim Ross has praised AEW President Tony Khan for providing him with a commentary job as he believes it has saved his life.

Since AEW started earlier this year, Tony Khan only really had one man in mind to lead the commentary on the show, and that's Jim Ross.

He's been doing a decent job so far on AEW Dynamite each week, and while he isn't perfect, you can tell he's motivated to do the job to the best of his ability.

The weekly AEW Dynamite shows mean Ross is constantly busy for the first time in years, and he believes this has made a positive impact on his life after a rough few years.

Speaking on this week’s episode of Grillin’ JR, Ross praised Khan for helping him out during a down time in his life, stating he believes the AEW President saved his life.

Ross said, via Wrestling News: “I love to travel. Tony Khan saved my life, I believe that. Because I like getting up now and going somewhere.

"Every Tuesday morning I’m up at 4 or 5 o’clock at the latest to catch a plane, first flight out, boom I’m going to the city to have our production meeting on Tuesday night and then our show on Wednesday. So I got a direction now and a destination.”

Ross has been through a rough period over the past few years, as his wife passed away in March 2017, and he also had an eye operation in 2018 that greatly affected his eyesight in one eye.

So far, Ross is doing a great job with AEW, and it's hard to imagine another person being the voice of the promotion, alongside Tony Schiavone and Excalibur.

Ross has a lot to be excited for in the future, as AEW is currently leading the Wednesday Night Wars battle against WWE's NXT and it doesn't look like they'll lose that advantage without a fight.

Ross will be calling AEW's Full Gear pay-per-view this weekend.
