Tammy Abraham equals Marcus Rashford's highest scoring PL season in just 12 games

Tammy Abraham celebrates vs Crystal Palace

Tammy Abraham is on fire for Chelsea right now.

The Chelsea striker scored his tenth goal of the Premier League season today as the Blues eased to a 2-0 victory over London rivals Crystal Palace.

Abraham cooly slotted the ball past Vicente Guaita after an excellent flick round the corner from Willian, putting the Chelsea striker level at the top of the scoring charts with Jamie Vardy.

And an interesting stat has arisen from Abraham's latest goal scoring feat under Frank Lampard's rule.

The 22-year-old has now equalled Marcus Rashford's highest scoring Premier League season - in just 12 games.

Manchester United's main man up top scored 10 times in 2018/19, but took 33 games to reach that total.

In 2016/17, Rashford scored just five times in the Premier League from 32 games and he only reached seven goals from 35 appearances in 2017/18.

It just shows how well Abraham is performing in Lampard's exciting Chelsea side.

The Blues youth product has been called up to Gareth Southgate's latest England squad and he surely has to be a mainstay for quite some time now.

While Harry Kane is the main man up top, Abraham simply has to be the backup plan.

The scary thing is, he can only get better and he is living proof that most players will benefit from loan spells in England's lower divisions.

Abraham spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Aston Villa, where he helped the team gain promotion by scoring 25 goals in just 37 games.

The Chelsea striker is now reaping the benefits from that campaign, as are both Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori.
