Lionel Messi is pretty good at football, isn’t he?

Of course, everyone already knew that but the Argentine demonstrated why millions of fans consider him the greatest of all-time on Saturday night.

Messi scored a hat-trick during Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou.

It was his 34th La Liga hat-trick, drawing him level with Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.

Some hat-tricks are better than others, though, and this hat-trick was pretty special.

The first was a penalty but the next two were incredible free-kicks from 25-yards.

They were Messi’s 51st and 52nd free-kicks goals of his career.

Amazing.

Surely he’s the best free-kick taker in world football. Ever.

One thing is for sure, he’s slightly better than Ronaldo from a set-piece.

Ronaldo is still looking to score his first free-kick for Juventus - although if Aaron Ramsey hadn’t interfered earlier this week he would have grabbed one.

But after Messi’s brace of free-kicks, a rather humorous statistic emerged.

That’s because Messi scored more free-kicks against Eibar last night than Ronaldo has managed in the last 694 days.

Remarkable.

After the match, two of Messi's teammates summed up his brilliance.

"Honestly, Messi is freaking us all out," Sergi Roberto said.

"When he fired the ball we already knew it would end up in the goal. It's a pleasure to play with this genius."

While Junior Firpo added: "The best thing a goalkeeper can do when Messi is behind the ball for a free-kick is to pray."
