Cody Rhodes literally put his body on the line, from head to toe, against Chris Jericho at AEW Full Gear in an attempt to capture the AEW World Championship.Rhodes vs Jericho for the AEW title was the main event of Full Gear, and if Cody lost the match, he would never challenge for the AEW title again.Early on in the match, Cody showed just how far he was willing to go as he attempted to dive onto his opponent outside the ring, but instead landed face-first on the steel after Jericho moved out of the way.Somehow, the AEW executive vice president managed to get up despite being busted up after this nasty bump, and he continued the match. Unfortunately, he would fall short. He lost the match via technical submission after MJF threw in the towel for Cody when Jericho locked in the Lion Tamer. Jericho celebrated his 49th birthday in style.

Cody's willingness to go on after the face plant in the opening portion of the match shows just how much of a warrior he is.

Per Cody's own stipulation, he will no longer be able to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

However, after what happened once the match had finished, he likely has another opponent on his mind for AEW's next pay-per-view.

Following the Rhodes vs Jericho match, MJF delivered a low-blow to Cody to a chorus of boos, kicking off a feud between the two.

A match between the AEW executive vice president and MJF could take place during Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea: Part Deux in January next year.

MJF is one of AEW's most promising stars and this could be a match that begins his own breakout and rise towards an eventual AEW World title match.

Elsewhere at AEW Full Gear, Jon Moxley defeated Kenny Omega in an unsanctioned lights out match.
