Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez involved in bust-up at England training after Liverpool 3-1 Man City

Liverpool FC v Manchester City - Premier League

Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez were involved in a bust-up at St George’s Park one day after Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Manchester City at Anfield.

The Daily Mail reports that the pair, who have joined up with England, had to be separated by shocked teammates following a physical confrontation after banter about Liverpool’s win got out of hand.

Sterling and Gomez clashed during Sunday’s meeting between the Premier League title rivals and the bad blood has reportedly spilled over.

What started as light-hearted ribbing about the scoreline, which leaves Liverpool nine points ahead of Man City, and their on-pitch dispute descended into a physical confrontation on Monday.

During the match, Gomez and Sterling clashed when the Man City forward attempted to take the ball off the defender late on.

Sterling, who had a tough afternoon against Trent Alexander-Arnold, backed into Gomez, and the Liverpool man responded by pushing him in the chest.

Former Liverpool player Sterling responded by shoving into Gomez’s back with his shoulders, prompting James Milner to intervene.

England manager Gareth Southgate was already planning to speak to Leicester City star James Maddison after he visited a casino during the Three Lions' defeat to the Czech Republic last month.

Maddison had withdrawn from the squad through illness.

Now he's going to have to deal with this feud between Gomez and Sterling ahead of England's European Championship qualifiers.

Liverpool's 3-1 win against Manchester City on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, gives them a nine-point advantage over the reigning champions in the Premier League title race.

Sterling, booed on his return to Anfield, cut a frustrated figure as a string of missed chances cost Man City.

The 24-year-old worked hard throughout but it was a day to forget.
