The women of WWE made history back in April, when three of them main evented WrestleMania. It was the first time ever that a female match had gone on last at WWE's grandest spectacle, and it saw the crowning of Becky Lynch as the 'champ-champ'.The Irishwoman finally got one over on her nemesis in Ronda Rousey, albeit in dodgy circumstances where the finish seemed to be botched, and the night ended with 'The Man' on top of WWE.Charlotte being SmackDown Women's Champion going into this match came off the back of her defeating Asuka for the title, just 12 days before on SmackDown. That meant the opportunity for a big singles match at the event was lost for Asuka, and one of Carmella, Naomi, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, who were set to compete in a number-one contenders match to face Asuka.

In the end, all five of the women were stuck in the pre-show Battle Royal, which Carmella won by last eliminating Sarah Logan, who had thrown Asuka out as the penultimate elimination.

But judging from a clip shown in last night's episode of Total Divas, WWE originally had other plans for Deville, before they broke news to her that they were scrapped and she had no match.

WWE trainer and producer Sarah Stock was seen speaking to Asuka and Deville backstage, as Deville was seen remonstrating that herself and Rose lasted the longest in the Elimination Chamber match in February.

Fire & Desire weren't even in the Women's Tag Team Championships match, with The IIconics, Tamina and Nia Jax and the team of Natalya and Beth Phoenix being selected over them.

Deville looked saddened as Stock told her that she couldn't see another match being made, but she insisted that 'everything would be better' for Deville missing out this time around.

Since WrestleMania, Deville has won three televised matches out of 13, and with no future title shots in sight, things don't look rose for her and Mandy.

We can assume that Asuka was informed of the decision to take the title off of her around the same time of the clip above, and all-in-all the whole situation was a bit of a shame for the SmackDown women's division.

Things are looking up for her though, currently holding the Women's Tag Titles and she should be in-line for a shot at Becky Lynch's Raw Women's Championship in the near future - and hopefully both her and Deville get their WrestleMania moments in 2020.
