The international break is often seen as a bit of an inconvenience to football fans.

Many prefer watching their favourite club turn out on a weekly basis, as opposed to suffering through 90 minutes of their national team.

But these fixtures are important and European sides will be spending the week playing their final Euro 2020 qualifiers, hoping to book a place at next summer's tournament.

Next season it starts all over again, with World Cup qualification. Although supporters aren't too fond of international breaks, we do love watching the tournaments when they come around.

The best players in the world are always on show at the World Cup and European Championships. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi, of course.

Those are some of the best - and most valuable - footballers in the world. And that has us thinking, which nation actually has the most expensive squad of players?

Well, using data from Transfermarkt, we can create a top 10 list. Check it out below:

10) Argentina - €463 million

The South American side just about crack the top 10, thanks to the likes of Lionel Messi (€135m), Paulo Dybala (€75m) and Sergio Aguero (€58.5m).

9) The Netherlands - €709 million

While Argentina's attack makes them valuable, it's the Netherlands defence and midfield that puts them on this list.

Virgil van Dijk (€90m), Matthijs de Ligt (€67.5m) and Frenkie de Jong (€76.5m) are the most valuable players in Holland's squad.

8) Portugal - €752 million

Rather surprisingly, Ronaldo is not the most valuable player in Portugal's team.

That honour is shared between Bernardo Silva and Joao Felix - both worth €90m - while the captain clocks in just behind them at €81m.

7) Belgium - €754 million

There's no surprise who tops Belgium's list - Real Madrid's Eden Hazard.

He's worth €135m, while national teammates Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois are worth a respectable €67.5m and €49.5m each.

6) Germany - €803 million

In what is a true sign of 'German efficiency,' it's goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen who comes in as his nation's joint-most valuable player at €81m.

Young midfielder Kai Havertz shares top spot, while right-back Joshua Kimmich rounds off the top three at €63m. Forward Timo Werner is also pretty valuable at €58.5m.

5) Italy - €836 million

Italy may be transitioning into a new era, but their stars are worth a lot of money.

Marco Verratti, Jorginho and Lorenzo Insigne are the most valuable players, coming in at €67.5m, €58.5m and €58.5m respectively.

4) France - €866 million

Despite being World Cup holders, France don't actually have the most valuable squad.

Kylian Mbappe (€180m) Antoine Griezmann (€117m) and N'Golo Kante (€90m) put them in what's still a respectable fourth spot.

3) Spain - €924 million

The likes of Saul Niguez (€81m), Rodri (€72m) and Thiago (€63m) make Spain one of the most valuable - and dangerous - teams on the planet.

2) England - €1.12 billion

This might come as a shock to many - England are one of only two teams with a combined worth of more than one billion euros.

That's thanks to Harry Kane (€135m), Raheem Sterling (€125m) and Jadon Sancho (€90m). Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold add to that, worth €72m each.

1) Brazil €1.14 billion

The most expensive footballer in history helps Brazil top this list.

Neymar is now worth €162m while Philippe Coutinho (€81m), Roberto Firmino (€72m) and Ederson (€63m) ensure Selecao have the world's most valuable squad.

So there we have it, Brazil have the most valuable national squad in football. But unless they win the World Cup in 2022, it will mean very little.
