We’re 12 matches into the new Premier League season and the table is really starting to take shape.

However, it looks a bit different at this stage to what many would have expected.

Ok, Liverpool being top may not be too surprising but Leicester and Chelsea being above Manchester City certainly is.

Then there’s Sheffield United in fifth, above Arsenal and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are down in 14th.

But with teams not having played everyone just yet, the league table can lie.

Earlier this week, we brought you the Premier League table based on fixture difficulty so far this season and for the remainder of the campaign.

On a similar note, how are clubs faring compared to their exact results from last season?

Dubbed the ‘Uncle Jeff Coefficient’ by The Totally Football Show, the table shows the true difference between this season and last season.

Of course, with teams getting relegated and promoted, we’ve had to do some tweaking.

So: Norwich City = Cardiff City, Sheffield United = Fulham and Aston Villa = Huddersfield Town.

So this is how every Premier League club is doing compared to the same fixtures last season:

1 | Leicester

Points this season: 26
Points in the same fixtures last season: 18
Difference: +8 points

Brendan Rodgers’ side are eight points better off this campaign after wins at home to Tottenham, home to Newcastle and away to Crystal Palace - three fixtures they lost last season.

2 | Liverpool

Points this season: 34
Points in the same fixtures last season: 28
Difference: +6 points

Having won 11 of their 12 matches this season, Jurgen Klopp’s side were obviously going to be better off.

Most notably, their wins at home to Leicester and Manchester City - where they drew both games in 2018/19.

3 | Newcastle

Points this season: 15
Points in the same fixtures last season: 10
Difference: +5 points

Steve Bruce > Rafa Benitez.

Their win away to Spurs - where they lost last season - makes a big difference here.

4 | Brighton

Points this season: 15
Points in the same fixtures last season: 12
Difference: +3 points

On the opening day of this season, Brighton beat Watford away. On the opening day of last season, Brighton lost to Watford away.

5 | Bournemouth

Points this season: 16
Points in the same fixtures last season: 14
Difference: +2 points

Bournemouth are helped by the fact they beat Man Utd at home this season - a match in which they lost last season.

6 | Everton

Points this season: 14
Points in the same fixtures last season:: 12
Difference: +2 points

Everton might be 15th in the actual Premier League table but they shouldn’t worry too much because they’re two points better off than last campaign.

Winning at home to Watford and Wolves has earned Everton four points this season, where they only picked up one point last season.

7 | Burnley

Points this season: 15
Points in the same fixtures last season: 14
Difference: +1 point

Burnley lost 5-1 at home to Everton last season but managed to pick up a 1-0 win this time around.

8 | Southampton

Points this season: 8
Points in the same fixtures last season: 9
Difference: -1 point

Fear not, Southampton fans.

You may have only earned eight points this season but that’s only one point worse off than in the same fixtures in 2018/19.

They did lose at home to Everton this season, though, after beating them in the same fixture last year.

9 | Chelsea

Points this season: 26
Points in the same fixtures last season: 26
Difference: 0

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea might be flying this season but they haven’t actually improved on Maurizio Sarri’s results.

They beat Wolves away 5-2 this season after losing 2-1 last season but they also lost away to Manchester United and home to Liverpool, where they picked up two points under Sarri.

10 | Crystal Palace

Points this season: 15
Points in the same fixtures last season: 15
Difference: 0

Another side that are level on points with where they were last season.

They managed a win against Arsenal last season but could only draw this time around but won at Old Trafford when they could only draw last season.

11 | Manchester United

Points this season: 16
Points in the same fixtures last season: 20
Difference: -4 points

United have lost away to Newcastle and Bournemouth, where they registered two wins last season.

12 | Arsenal

Points this season: 17
Points in the same fixtures last season: 23
Difference: -5 points

Another damning statistic for Unai Emery.

An example of Arsenal’s downturn is the fact they could only draw away to Watford earlier this season after beating the Hornets 1-0 last season.

13 | Watford

Points this season: 8
Points in the same fixtures last season: 13
Difference: -5 points

There are many examples of where it’s gone wrong for Watford this season.

Like losing 2-0 away to Wolves, where they beat them 2-0 in 18/19.

14 | Wolves

Points this season: 16
Points in the same fixtures last season: 22
Difference: -6 points

Wolves might be up to 8th in the Premier League but they’re a massive six points worse off this time around.

A draw instead of a win at home to Burnley, a loss instead of a win away to Everton and a draw instead of a win away to Crystal Palace have all contributed to that.

15 | West Ham

Points this season: 13
Points in the same fixtures last season: 22
Difference: -8 points

Despite spending £70 million in the summer, Manuel Pellegrini’s side are EIGHT points worse off this season.

Losing at home to Crystal Palace and away to Everton - fixtures they won last season - make up six of those points.

16 | Manchester City

Points this season: 25
Points in the same fixtures last season: 34
Difference: -9 points

The only league table you’re going to see City second from bottom.

Drawing at home to Spurs, losing at home to Wolves and losing away to Liverpool have contributed to them being nine points worse off.

17 | Tottenham

Points this season: 14
Points in the same fixtures last season: 27
Difference: -13 points

Wow. This makes for pretty grim reading for Mauricio Pochettino.

A massive THIRTEEN points worse off than against same sides last season.

They picked up just one point from games at home to Newcastle, away to Leicester, away to Brighton and home to Watford where they earned 12 last season.

There we have it - the 'Uncle Jeff' league table.

The conclusions?

Rodgers' Leicester are significantly better than last season, while credit must go to Bruce at Newcastle.

Meanwhile, there's been a massive 15-points swing in the title race with Liverpool six points better off and City a massive nine points worse off.

The less said about Pochettino's Spurs, the better...
