UFC legend Chuck Liddell has identified boxing legend Mike Tyson as a potential future opponent and fancies his chances against ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ in a street fight.

The 49-year-old is a year removed from being knocked out by Tito Ortiz in his last return-from-retirement fight, but 12 months removed from the Octagon has left him itching for more.

Boxing and MMA crossover talk is all the rage once again with Tyson Fury teasing a possibility of a move into the Octagon, having recently hit the pads with middleweight contender Darren Till.

Liddell, an MMA pioneer, has now thrown his hat in the ring after being quizzed on a potential mega-fight between himself and ‘Iron Mike.’

“I’ll make it real simple. Boxing, Mike. MMA, me. He’s got one shot on the way in. Once I get in, it’s over,” Liddel said in an interview with business personality Ed Mylett.

“In a street fight, I’d win…I’d KO him.”

‘The Ice Man’ secured a number of blockbuster victories throughout his MMA career, most notably at UFC 52 when he annihilated Randy Couture, and at UFC 47 when he knocked Tito Ortiz out cold in the second round.

Tyson, 53, hasn’t been trying to keep the magic going like Liddell has. After retiring in 2005 following a loss to Kevin McBride, he returned to the ring the following year for an exhibition tour, but hasn’t been back since.

And in an interview with GQ, Tyson said he could never have become a UFC superstar.

“I don’t know what I would do in the UFC, because I watched the UFC a couple of times, and I watched these guys step on people’s feet,” he explained.

“And I have the worst feet in the world, and if somebody stepped on my feet, I would totally tap out and just give up.

“It would be a no-brainer.”
