Jose Mourinho has been out of management since departing Manchester United in December 2018.

Many expected the Special One to return to the touchline quickly. But instead, he's biding his time, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

The Portuguese tactician has been linked with plenty of roles, some with Europe's top teams, but has turned down at least three offers.

More recently, Mourinho has been touted to replace the struggling Unai Emery at Arsenal.

But apparently, it's a different north London team he's more interested in managing.

According to The Sun, Mourinho is keeping a close eye on Tottenham's situation and would be keen on taking the job if Mauricio Pochettino is sacked, or walks away.

That's despite him believing that the Real Madrid job will be his if he wants it.

It's reported that he's Florentino Perez's preferred choice to replace Zinedine Zidane if Los Blancos swing the axe.

However, Mourinho has told close friends that he wouldn't necessarily accept the role while the possibility of taking over at Spurs exists.

Very interesting indeed.

ANALYSIS
GIVEMESPORT'S Ollie Browning says:

Mourinho has put himself in a very strong position.

He didn't rush back into management after being sacked by Man United and remains one of the most desirable coaches in the world almost one year on because of that.

So, should Spurs take a chance on the Special One? Absolutely.

Pochettino's impact in north London shouldn't be understated and the way he's transformed Tottenham into genuine contenders is admirable.

He has credit in the bank despite failing to win any silverware and probably won't be sacked - but Mourinho is a serial winner and could take the club to the next level.

Plus, Pochettino is one of the other favourites to replace Zidane at Madrid, so if he does take the decision to walk away from Spurs before he's pushed, then that could suit all parties.
