Following Jorge Masvidal's third-round knockout victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 244 two weeks ago, Nate's older brother Nick has weighed in with an opinion on the UFC BMF champion during a rare interview with ESPN's Ariel Helwani.

"That's my belt. You just fought my baby brother," also taking issue with some of Masvidal's comments prior to the fight.

"I never had nothing disrespectful to say, but you don't talk about baptising my younger brother," and "so you are already in a f***ed position if you fight with me."

While a few days later, seemingly continuing to call Masvidal out on Instagram, captioning his recent post: "Thank you @arielhelwani for letting me come on had a long week I was a little worked up, @gamebredfighter (Jorge Masvidal) @ufc give the fans that Real shit what they wanna see."

Masvidal has since responded to Nick Diaz' social media call outs, stating; "Would be a honour. I'm 100 in for this #theresurrection," he wrote under Diaz' post.

Whilst the idea of Nick Diaz' third return to the UFC being an exciting one for long-time fans, there would be a fair few questions regarding how competitive the bout would actually be.

Whilst Jorge is currently enjoying probably the peak of his MMA career, Nick hasn't fought in the Octagon in four years following his controversial UFC 183 middleweight bout loss to Anderson Silva, which was later overturned, whereby both fighters failed drug tests and the fight was later announced as no-contest.

You'd have to look even further back eight years for his last win, claiming victory by judges' decision over B.J Penn in 2011.

According to Nick's manager Kevin Mubenga, they are targeting the return for spring next year in Texas, these claims supported by Diaz' comments during the Helwani interview, during which he called on UFC president Dana White to make the fight happen.

"You know, it's on you Dana. It's on you, UFC... that's on them. It's in your hands now. Cowboy Stadium."

With the war of words unlikely to cease for a while, it will be interesting to see what materialises from this and if we will finally see Nick Diaz return to the Octagon one last time in 2020.
