England's 4-0 victory over Kosovo was a little more workman-like than the scoreline might suggest. The Three Lions were given an incredibly warm welcome in Pristina, with St George's flags waved by the locals during the national anthem and the players' names cheered, two decades on from NATO intervention in the Balkan conflict. The scoring was opened by an unlikely candidate in Harry Winks; it was a confident finish too from the Tottenham midfielder. It took until the 79th minute for Harry Kane to double the visitors' lead, before Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount also weighed in. For Mount, this was his first senior international goal. For Kane, it was anything but as the striker netted his 32nd for his country.

The 26-year-old is racing towards Wayne Rooney's record of 53. It's surely only a matter of time before he becomes England's highest ever goalscorer having already surpassed the likes of Alan Shearer and Nat Lofthouse thanks to his hat-trick against Montenegro.  

And in Kosovo - his 45th international fixture - he sent more records tumbling as he became the first ever Englishman to score in every single qualifier in a European Championship qualifying campaign. 

That brings his tally for 2019 up to 12 - the most an England player has scored in a calendar year for 90 years. 

There's one record he didn't beat, however, and that's David Healy's 13 for Northern Ireland in the qualifiers for Euro 2008. Robert Lewandowski then matched that ahead of Euro 2016. 

Kane is a major reason why England have been on fire in attack. Reports of his decline have been greatly exaggerated it would seem, despite Spurs' struggles in 2019/20.  

They have never scored so many in qualification, having thumped the likes of Bulgaria and Montenegro out of the park. 

It will fill Gareth Southgate with optimism ahead of next year's tournament. 

Granted, England's group failed to pit them against any really testing opponents - but with a front three of Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Marcus Rashford, the rest of Europe will be sitting up and taking notice.
