The Premier League would be nothing without its foreign players.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gianfranco Zola, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona and countless others have lit up English football since 1992.

According to Transfermarkt, 329 of the 505 players registered in the Premier League this season are from overseas, which works out at 65.2%.

But how different would the Premier League table look right now if only goals from English players counted?

talkSPORT have crunched the numbers and, unsurprisingly, it looks very different.

And in top spot, it’s Leicester City!

The Foxes have scored 29 league goals this season, 17 of which have come from Englishmen. Jamie Vardy leads the way with 11, while James Maddison (4), Harvey Barnes and Ben Chilwell have also been on the scoresheet.

It goes without saying that English football would be a much poorer place without its overseas players, but it’s nice to see domestic players shining bright at many of the Premier League’s top clubs.

With Euro 2020 just around the corner, England fans will be hoping the likes of Vardy, Abraham and co. continue impressing between now and the end of the season.
