In Eve Muirhead’s 300th curling game for Scotland, her side celebrated an 8-5 win over the Czech Republic at European Curling Championships in Helsingborg.

This was the sides’ third win in the competition as they had previously beaten Norway and Denmark on Saturday and earlier on in Sunday’s competition.

Scotland is level with Switzerland in the rankings after the third round after the Swiss ended Russia’s unbeaten run after the second round.

Team Muirhead are Britain’s headline act at the competition and won the European title in 2017. However, the side has three new faces from that team and their star captain Eve Muirhead has been struggling with a hip injury all season.

Muirhead told BBC Scotland before heading out to the event that it is “difficult to play with this pain. You have good days and bad days; I can't really control it”.

"Every day I do rehab and try to keep on top of it," she said of her condition. "But I would rather be tired and pain-free than be all jolly. There's a lot of pain. It's a lot of time and effort. Being a full-time athlete, it’s always going to be hard.

"I feel like I'm getting old. I'm 30 in a few months and I feel like I'm getting to the mid to end of my career, so I really want to push for that last Olympic spot and from then on, who knows what I will do."

Muirhead has won eight medals for Scotland from her nine previous competitions, including gold in 2017 and 2011.

Meanwhile, Ross Paterson’s Scotland men’s side lost 8-5 to Russia after a disastrous ninth end. His side had previously beaten Norway and Italy on Saturday.
