Wales Women welcomes contest for places that will see the squad go from strength to strength.

After beginning their series with a defeat to Spain, Wales bounced back to winning ways when they beat Ireland last week in Dublin and had their sights set on continuing the winning run when they played Scotland on Sunday, with a glorious 17-3 win against the Scots.

With players that have been regular names in the squad for a long time being “pushed for their positions”, Gwen Crabb states that there is a “nice dynamic in the team… week in week out you have to fight for your position”.

Having achieved her first cap last year in the autumn games, Crabb believes that "it's a really good way to get new players in".

"Having my first cap (against Hong Kong) and then playing against Canada last year on top of that, took me into the Six Nations with a lot more confidence".

Gwen Crabb had moved up the ranks herself and hopes to become "a player that people can look up to".

"I think the idea is in the few games leading up to the Barbarians is to get as many new caps in as we can, everyone gets their chance to prove themselves and then going into the Baa-Baas game we'll be putting out our strongest team," Crabb added.

With a good "buzz in camp" Wales look ahead to playing Crawshay's at Ebbw Vale on 23rd November before finishing the season against the Barbarians on 30th November at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in a double-header alongside the men's team.

Crabb included that "I've played in the Principality Stadium before but not for Wales, so it's going to be a really great honour to represent Wales if I'm selected"
