An amateur mixed martial fighter Saeideh Aletaha has died as a result of injuries sustained over the weekend.

Aletaha, 26, died Sunday morning after collapsing in the ring following a fight at Fast and Furious Fight Series 19, which was held Saturday at Central Hall in Southampton, England.

Aletaha’s home gym, Exile Gym in Southampton, posted on Facebook about the loss of their friend.

“Saeideh Aletaha was a lovely character with a beautiful soul. Her dedication to the sport was 110% travelling miles every day to train. She found her place with us just a few months ago but has become apart of the family and will be sorely missed,” the post read in part.

Hampshire Police released a statement;

“We were called shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 by colleagues at Southampton General Hospital informing us of a woman who was being treated in hospital for a life-threatening brain injury. The woman, aged 26, died in hospital later that day. Inquiries into exactly what happened are ongoing. Next of kin have been informed.”

Aletaha was rushed to Southampton General Hospital after sustaining head injuries when she collapsed. Hampshire Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
