Who is the best player for every shirt number in the Premier League?

There are a few big calls.

N'Golo Kante, Raheem Sterling and Heung-min Son all wear the number seven shirt.

Number nine is a popular shirt with Jamie Vardy, Tammy Abraham and Roberto Firmino all wearing it for their respective club.

And world-class Premier League players that wear the number 10 shirt include Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Sadio Mane.

We've decided to look at and name the best Premier League player for every shirt number from 1-41.

1. Alisson Becker

Alisson may be the goalkeeper in the world right now. The impact he's had since joining Liverpool last year has been incredible.

2. Kyle Walker

We've gone for Walker over the likes of Hector Bellerin and Antonio Rudiger.

3. Fabinho

Liverpool have needed a defensive midfielder for years and they found a gem in Fabinho.

4. Virgil van Dijk

The best defender in the world and the frontrunner for the Ballon d'Or. Easily the best number four in the Premier League.

5. Harry Maguire

The world's most expensive defender is the best number five in the league.

6. Paul Pogba

Pogba has been inconsistent during his time at Man United but is world-class on his day.

7. N'Golo Kante

Sorry, Man City fans. We've gone with Kante over Raheem Sterling.

8. Ilkay Gundogan

Gundogan is a reliable and key component in Manchester City's midfield.

9. Roberto Firmino

There are some brilliant number nine's in the league, including Jamie Vardy and Tammy Abraham. But none are as complete as Firmino.

10. Sadio Mane

This was the toughest choice. It was almost impossible selecting one from Mane, Aguero and Kane. But we've gone with the former after a brilliant few years for Liverpool.

11. Mohamed Salah

Salah hasn't been able to replicate the form from his record-breaking 2017/18 season but remains a brilliant player.

12. Lucas Digne

After Andy Robertson, Digne is arguably the second best left-back in England's top tier.

13. Callum Wilson

The number 13 is considered unlucky - but it's not for Wilson. He's scored 19 Premier League goals since the start of last season, earning himself an England place.

14. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

What a signing Aubameyang has been for Arsenal. He's scored 50 goals in 78 games during his time in north London.

15. Willy Boly

Boly easily made the transition from playing in the Championship to playing in the Premier League.

16. Rodri

Signed for €70 million this summer, Rodri looks as if he will be a key cog in Man City's midfield for many years to come.

17. Kevin De Bruyne

This was a very easy choice. De Bruyne is a wonderful player who is currently the frontrunner to be named Premier League Player of the Year.

18. Diogo Jota

Jota hasn't hit the heights of last season yet. But at 22 years old, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

19. Mason Mount

What a revelation he has been for Chelsea. He's going to be at Chelsea for many years to come.

20. Bernardo Silva

Pep Guardiola has called Silva the best player in the Premier League in the past. He's easily the best number 20 in the league.

21. David Silva

What a servant Silva has been for Man City. He's scored 70 times in 395 games for the club in a nine-year spell. He's arguably their best player ever.

22. Christian Pulisic

Pulisic had a slow start to life at Chelsea but he's hit the ground running in recent weeks. He's scored five goals in his last five games for his club.

23. Christian Eriksen

The Danish midfielder has not been at his best so far this season amid speculation about his future. It'll be interesting to see how he does under Jose Mourinho.

24. Ryan Fraser

Fraser was one of the best wingers in the league last season, where he racked up seven goals and 14 assists.

25. Fernandinho

The Brazilian midfielder was named in the Team of the Year last season as Man City won their fourth Premier League title. He's still going strong at 34.

26. Andrew Robertson

What a player. The best left-back in the Premier League.

27. Lucas Moura

Lucas will always be highly regarded at Spurs after his dramatic last minute winner against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final last year.

28. Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea's club captain has been a reliable defender for the club since joining in 2012.

29. Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Wan-Bissaka will be Man United's starting right-back for the next decade.

30. Nicolas Otamendi

We've reluctantly gone with Otamendi due to a lack of quality players that wear the number 30 shirt.

31. Ederson

Ederson is the clear winner for number 31. He has the best distribution out of any goalkeeper in world football. He's so good with his feet, that there have even been suggestions that he could play outfield.

32. Joel Matip

It's incredible to think Matip was signed for FREE by Liverpool. He looks to have established himself as Van Dijk's partner in the middle of defence.

33. Emerson Palmieri

Emerson had a slow start at Chelsea but is thriving under Frank Lampard.

34. Granit Xhaka

Xhaka isn't the most popular player at Arsenal at the moment. But on his day, he's still a quality midfielder.

35. Jan Bednerak

Bednerak is named as he's pretty much the only regular starter in the Premier League who wears number 35.

36. Sean Longstaff

Longstaff burst onto the scene for Newcastle last season and is now a mainstay in their midfield. He has a bright future ahead of him.

37. Adama Traore

The quickest player in the Premier League. Following his brace against Man City last month, Traore was recently called up to the Spain squad for the first time.

38. Axel Tuanzebe

There aren't many players in the Premier League who wear the number 38. Tuanzebe is on the fringes of Man United's first team but has been endorsed to play more regularly by Paul Scholes.
