Antonio Conte asks his players not to have sex for too long before matches

Football is slowly coming around to the idea of ‘marginal gains.’

The sport seemed initially reluctant to follow in the footsteps of the likes of cycling.

Now, though, top clubs are employing more and more specialists in an attempt to improve results on the pitch - even if it's just fractionally.

Just look at Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, who has hired a throw-in coach in the hope he can teach the players to throw the ball that little bit further.

But marginal gains can also be achieved away from the training ground and inside the home - the bedroom more specifically.

Just ask Antonio Conte.

The Italian manager believes that having sex before matches can negatively affect performances.

Therefore, he’s told his players that they should only have sex quickly and that they should be on the bottom.

"I explain to the players how they should have sex,” Conte said.

“In the periods of competition, the intercourse should not last long with as little effort as possible and they should be on the bottom."

Deary me. No wonder Mauro Icardi and Wanda Nara have left for Paris Saint-Germain...

Not just the Inter Milan manager but also the Intercourse manager, it seems.

We wonder what the Inter players think of their manager ordering them how to have sex. More importantly, we wonder what the wives and girlfriends think of it!

Conte’s methods seem to be doing the trick this season, though.

The San Siro side have lost just once in 12 Serie A matches and sit just one points behind league leaders Juventus.

If Inter players stick to Conte' strict regime for the remainder of the campaign, maybe they can finally end Juve's reign.
