Manchester United might be going through a difficult spell right now but they still possess one of the most expensive squads in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have spent close a billion pounds on players since their previous Premier League title win, back in 2013, and worked their way through three different coaches in David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has occupied the hot-seat for almost a year now (including his spell as the club’s caretaker manager) and brought in another one hundred and fifty million pounds’ worth of players in the summer.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James were all added to the squad for significant fees - and, of course, hefty wages.

But how much money are Man Utd’s players all earning? The Mirror have revealed all…

Scott McTominay - (£520k / £10,000-a-week)

How is Scott McSauce only on 10 grand a week? A message to Ed Woodward: give the lad a pay rise now!

Timothy Fosu-Mensah - (£780k / £15,000-a-week)

The 21-year-old defender has made 21 senior appearances for Man Utd but there’s no guarantee at this stage that he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.

Diogo Dalot - (£1.3m / £25,000-a-week)

United’s young Portuguese full-back was signed by Mourinho from FC Porto in 2018.

Andreas Pereira - (£1.5m / £30,000-a-week)

The 23-year-old, who has been with United since 2011, is beginning to play more for the first team under Solskjaer.

Lee Grant - (£1.5m / £30,000-a-week)

Let’s be honest: Lee Grant’s agent deserves a medal for getting his client a contract worth £30,000 a week. He’s made one appearance the club. One!

Sergio Romero - (£3.6m / £70,000-a-week)

If Lee Grant’s taking home £30k a week, then it’s only fair that back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero is on 70 grand a week. It’s still a *lot* of money, mind.

Chris Smalling (on loan) - (£3.6m / £70,000-a-week)

Smalldini is currently impressing with loan club AS Roma, who he joined back in August.

Jesse Lingard - (£3.9m / £75,000-a-week)

It was initially reported that Jesse Lingard’s current contract is worth £100,000-a-week, but the Mirror claim the England international (who has no goals or assists at club level this YEAR) is ‘only’ on £75k a week.

Phil Jones - (£3.9m / £75,000-a-week)

Phil Jones earns £75,000 every week. Just take a moment to let that sink in.

Marcos Rojo - (£4.1m / £80,000-a-week)

Marcos Rojo signed a new contract in March 2018, tying him to the club until June 2021. It’s worth £80,000 a week, which seems a little excessive for a player of his limited ability.

Eric Bailly - (£4.1m / £80,000-a-week)

A decent centre-back but far too injury prone. This might be his last contract from Man Utd.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - (£4.6m / £90,000-a-week)

United hope Wan-Bissaka will be their next right-back for the next decade, so £90,000-a-week seems about right.

Ashley Young - (£6.2m / £120,000-a-week)

There’s no way Ashley Young should be earning anything like £120,000-a-week. The 34-year-old’s best days are firmly behind him.

Nemanja Matic - (£6.2m / £120,000-a-week)

The same applies for Nemanja Matic. Perhaps Mourinho will hand the midfielder another massive contract at Tottenham in January.

Victor Lindelof - (£6.2m / £120,000-a-week)

Lindelof has improved since joining Man Utd in 2017 but £120,000-a-week still sounds a little on the generous side.

Fred - (£6.2m / £120,000-a-week)

Fred’s performance levels have picked up of late but he still needs to do an awful lot more to prove he deserved to be earning that much money.

Luke Shaw - (£7.8m / £150,000-a-week)

We’ve only seen glimpses of Luke Shaw at his best since he joined Man Utd from Southampton as a hugely-promising teenager in 2014.

Juan Mata - (£8.3m / £160,000-a-week)

A lovely guy, but not a £160,000-a-week footballer these days. At least he gives some of his salary away to charity.

Harry Maguire - (£9.8m / £189,000-a-week)

The world’s most expensive defender, it’s actually a little surprising that Harry Maguire isn’t earning over £200,000 a week.

Marcus Rashford - (£10.4m / £200,000-a-week)

It was vital that Man Utd kept hold of Marcus Rashford in the summer, with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly interested. They had to offer their No. 10 the big bucks to keep him.

Anthony Martial - (£13m / £250,000-a-week)

A lot of United fans love Anthony Martial, but there’s no way he deserves a quarter of a million pounds every week. The Frenchman simply hasn’t done enough to justify those wages, although there’s plenty of time for him to do so.

Paul Pogba - (£15m / £290,000-a-week)

In terms of talent, Man Utd’s best player. But there will be plenty of United fans furious to hear the French World Cup winner is earning close to 300 grand a week.

Alexis Sanchez (out on loan) - (£18.2m / £350,000-a-week)

We dread to think how much of Alexis Sanchez’s wages Man Utd are still paying. The Chilean is currently at Inter trying to revive his career.

David de Gea - (£19.5m / £375,000-a-week)

Man Utd’s highest-paid player and you can’t really say he doesn’t deserve it for everything he’s done for the club in recent years. De Gea has been United’s most consistent player since Fergie left by miles.

Not listed

Daniel James (£3.4m / £67,000-a-week)

Reports from June claimed that Daniel James would be earning £67,000-a-week at Old Trafford. The Welshman has made an impressive start to his United career.

Axel Tuanzebe (Less than £20,000-a-week)

We’re unable to find an exact figure for Axel Tuanzebe, but the 22-year-old is reportedly on less than £20,000 a week.

Mason Greenwood (£1.3m / £25,000-a-week)

United have high hopes for 18-year-old Mason Greenwood, whose wages jumped from £800 a week to £25,000-a-week after signing his first professional contract in October.

While there are some United players on contracts that reflect their ability and what they’ve contributed since joining the club, it’s hard not to feel that an awful lot of money is being wasted on wages.

Then again, this is probably the case at most clubs.

It’s not just Old Trafford where you can find overpaid footballers.
