Khabib's manager tweets that Floyd Mayweather fight was agreed for January 2020

Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz has sensationally claimed that a fight between the Russian and Floyd Mayweather was agreed for January 2020.

Mayweather announced yesterday that he would be coming out of retirement next year and is set to embark on a project with UFC president Dana White.

The name of his latest opponent has not yet been revealed, but we can safely say that it won't be Khabib after Abdelaziz's revelations on Twitter.

Khabib's manager wrote: "This was originally planned but the big Dady of combat sport today
@danawhite make @floydmayweather hide for a lil bit . 3 of us knew what happened but to be honest I’m glad to see @danawhite with @floydmayweather finally got a good promoter to promote his fights."

The promotion poster had even been created for the pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia - madness!

Khabib is set to fight Tony Ferguson in April or May of next year after defeating Anthony Pettis in Abu Dhabi back in September to retain his lightweight championship.

Mayweather's future is yet to be revealed, but a whole host of high-profile names have been linked with a bout against the legendary boxer.

Manny Pacquiao, KSI, Logan Paul and - of course - Conor McGregor have all cropped up thus far.

Mayweather vs McGregor

Could the American even setup a rematch with McGregor in the Octagon? Stranger things have happened in the crazy world of professional sport.
