Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur tenure is less than an hour away from commencing.

Unveiled as the new head coach at Spurs the morning after Mauricio Pochettino's removal, Mourinho hasn't had long to prepare for his opening game against West Ham United.

However, regardless of the result at the London Stadium, the arrival of Mourinho has Tottenham fans looking beyond the end of the season and towards potential silverware conquests.

But for all of Mourinho's managerial brilliance, you can bet that he'll be demanding transfer funds from Daniel Levy to make some necessary adjustments to the squad.

Beating out the negativity that plagued Pochettino's final months at the club won't be enough to transform Tottenham into the title-challenging side Mourinho is predicting next season.

Mourinho's Spurs reign begins

That being said, it's no secret that Tottenham aren't too loose with their purse strings and didn't spend a single penny in January nor the 2018 summer transfer window.

But we can't imagine a world in which Mourinho would take a job where he wouldn't get backing, so let's cast our minds forwards and predict how the 'Special One' might splash the cash.

We're not the only ones thinking that way either, because newspaper reports are already linking Spurs with a number of big players and the country's bookmakers are adjusting accordingly.

Mourinho's most likely first signings

SkyBet are conducting a number of 'Mourinho specials' in the wake of his arrival and by far the most interesting topic is the question: who will his first Tottenham signing be?

And given the amount of footballing insight swirling around Sky headquarters, we couldn't resist running through the 15 players they are deeming the most likely to move to north London.

From moves that would truly boggle the mind to transfers that have Mourinho written all over them, here are the full list of odds before his first game in charge:

15. Cristiano Ronaldo - 66/1

14. Mesut Ozil - 33/1

13. James Maddison - 22/1

12. Oscar - 20/1

11. Erling Braut Haaland - 20/1

10. Alexis Sanchez - 20/1

9. Wilfried Zaha - 16/1

8. Max Aarons - 16/1

7. Willian - 12/1

6. Paulo Dybala - 9/1

5. Giovani Lo Celso (To be made a permanent signing) - 13/2

4. Bruno Fernandes - 6/1

3. Nemanja Matic - 11/2

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 5/1

1. Gareth Bale - 5/2

Are many realistic?

Can you imagine the absolute scenes if Sanchez or Ronaldo came to Spurs?

Sadly, as amusing as it is that Sky have included them on our list, we're pretty sure neither of them are going to happen, but that doesn't mean that other lucrative deals aren't possible.

Besides, a homecoming for Real Madrid's Bale is taking top spot and a combination of his impatience with Los Blancos and Mourinho's persuasiveness could bring about a comeback.

And next on the list is Zlatan Ibrahimovic who, according to a report from the Telegraph, could be a shock target for Spurs despite now being 38 years old.

If Tottenham signed up for anything when they chose Mourinho, it was most certainly entertainment.
