Real Madrid would have wanted a win today against Real Sociedad to move back level on points with Barcelona.

But they suffered an awful start as they were 1-0 down inside two minutes.

And the opener came after a complete howler from arguably their most reliable player, Sergio Ramos.

The Spanish defender found himself under pressure from an opponent as he turned with the ball towards his own goal.

Wihtout looking, the 33-year-old tried to play the ball back to Thibaut Courtois so he could deal with the danger.

However, that proved to be a fatal decision. Ramos didn't see Willian Jose, who intercepted the back pass and then put the ball in an empty net.

Watch it below:

Oh, Ramos... what were you thinking.

Ramos has been an incredible defender over the years and you can let him off for a rare mistake like this.

But some inside the Bernabeu weren't as forgiving.

According to Independent journalist Dermot Corrigan, Ramos was whistled the next time he picked up the ball.

"Whistles for Ramos when he picks up the ball, drowned out by supportive applause," he wrote. "One to watch though."

That point was even backed up by Evening Standard reporter, Ben Hayward, who described them as 'loud whistles'.

Incredible. At least it sounds like the majority drowned out the idiocy of some Real Madrid fans.
