The Undertaker is one of the most iconic superstars in WWE history, but for a brief moment of time in the 2000s, he was also known as The American Badass. The American Badass was very different from The Deadman, as he wore a biker vest and rode a motorcycle down to the ring like he was part of a biker gang. The Undertaker used the American Badass gimmick from 2000 until 2004 when he brought back The Deadman at WrestleMania XX.Speaking to Stone Cold Steve Austin on Broken Skull Sessions, The Phenom explained why it was so important for him to undergo a character change and move away from The Deadman in the early 2000s.He said: “I always felt like, if I started feeling stale, my audience is probably feeling it before me. You get wrapped up in what you’re doing.

"So, the small changes, the breaks at the right time, but I don’t think I would had made it through if I hadn’t changed when I did to go to the American Badass. The character, I don’t think, would have lasted through the Attitude Era.”

The American Badass has not made another appearance in the WWE since The Undertaker returned to The Deadman gimmick in 2004, and it's unclear if we will ever see it again in the ring.

The American Badass has been rumoured to make a return several times, but so far, none of those rumour reports have come to fruition.

WWE fans haven't seen The Undertaker in WWE since he teamed up with Roman Reigns against Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a No Holds Barred tag team match at Extreme Rules. Taker and Reigns won the match.

The Deadman is only seen a couple of times a year in WWE now, so it's always a treat just to see The Undertaker in the ring these days, let alone a return of the American Badass gimmick.
