Manchester United nearly pulled off a remarkable win against Sheffield United on Sunday. Nearly.Things got off to a horrendous start for Man United as they were 2-0 down after 52 minutes and quite plainly the second-best side on show. But, out of nowhere, they kicked into life on 72 minutes.19-year-old left-back Brandon Williams rifled in a brilliant finish to pull things back to 2-1 with his first senior goal. And just give minutes later, Man United were level as Mason Greenwood got his fist Premier League goal thanks to a wonderful cross by Marcus Rashford.

Remarkably, they were ahead two minutes later, Rashford getting one of his own after Daniel James ran at the defence.

Unfortunately for Man United, they couldn't hold onto their lead as Oli McBurnie got a stoppage-time equaliser for the Blades.

That leaves Man United ninth - they'd have gone fifth with a win - and one point behind Sheffield United.

Despite the comeback, the fans weren't pleased with yet another slip up in a disappointing season.

Although, quite bizarrely, Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes this game highlighted exactly why his side are better than last season.

You see, they wouldn't have only been down by 2-0 last year.

"The difference between this team and last year's team is huge," he told Sky Sports after the game. "At 2-0, my mind is going back to Everton [where United lost 4-0 last season].

"No doubt about the drive, the energy, the attitude of these boys - they never give in.

"Last year we would have been three, four, or five down. This is such a big stride forward for them."

Going two down at Bramall Lane before drawing doesn't exactly seem like the 'big strides' fans were hoping for this season.

In fact, you could possibly argue that Sheffield United merely let them back into the game and that this wasn't a performance Solskjaer should be proud of.

He is, though - but we're not sure the supporters will agree.
