Lindegaard unhappy with performance

New-boy Anders Lindegaard has admitted Manchester United can take no pride from their performance against non-league Crawley.

Virtually the only positive from an insipid display from a team currently top of the Premier League is the fact they are in the FA Cup sixth round courtesy of Wes Brown's glancing header.

"That was not as straightforward as we would have wished for," said Lindegaard. "We didn't play a good match and we can't be proud of what we did."

He added: "The manager and the coaches were telling us for a couple of days, especially us foreigners who are not used to the FA Cup, how it is played. We were told that anything could happen. Anything nearly did. We should definitely do better."

As Lindegaard's appearances look like being restricted to the FA Cup for the foreseeable future, he welcomes the prospect of a quarter-final tie, and the looming nature of a trip to Wembley should United advance still further.

The 26-year-old admits he is still getting used to his new surroundings.

After arriving from Norwegian league side Aalesunds in December, Lindegaard has been forced to make some pretty big adjustments.

And they have not always gone to plan.

"I feel more like a Manchester United player now but I am still making my way around and sometimes I get lost at Carrington," he laughed, emphasising the sheer scale of the Red Devils' training complex.

"I would like another FA Cup tie or two. We are close to Wembley now which is nice and when you get a little experience of playing for this club, it gives you a taste for more."
