How the Premier League table would look if VAR wasn't being used this season

Whether we like it or not, VAR isn’t going anywhere.It’s fair to say the implementation of the new system hasn’t gone too smoothly in the Premier League.Here at GIVEMESPORT, we’re trying our best to imagine our beautiful game without the interference of VAR.That’s why, each week, we’re revealing how the Premier League table would look without VAR.We do that by taking the on-field officials’ decisions in every match and ignoring every overturned VAR decision.

So, let’s look at the most controversial VAR decisions in gameweek 13.

The biggest incident came at Selhurst Park when James Tomkins and Crystal Palace had an opening goal overruled for a foul on Dejan Lovren. It that had stood, it would have changed the game.

Later in the day, Raheem Sterling’s goal was disallowed as VAR adjudged the Manchester City to be fractionally offside. However, it’s since been revealed that the assistant referee actually put his flag up so, without VAR, the goal still wouldn’t have stood.

Outcome without VAR (LEICESTER WIN): VAR’s decision didn’t impact the result. Leicester were already winning 1-0 and, without VAR, Maddison’s rebounded goal would have stood to put them 2-0 up.

Outcome without VAR (BURNLEY WIN): Burnley were already winning 1-0 when Barnes was brought down in the box. Without VAR, the away side may have had to endure a nervy last 10 minutes. However, they scored the resulting penalty and added another to win 3-0. Therefore, we’d back them to still win the match regardless.
