FIFA 20 statistics are always bound to cause arguments.

EA Sports have a near impossible task when it comes to putting a number on not just players as a whole, but also 29 individual attributes that make up their in-game performances.

In other words, they not only need to rank every single player in the world, but they also need to order them across various minutia such as passing, dribbling, vision and many more.

Does Luka Modric have a better long pass than Andres Iniesta? Is Cristiano Ronaldo's shot more powerful than Zlatan Ibrahimovic's? Has Sergio Ramos got a better standing tackle than Virgil van Dijk.

You can see why the task is so tough. However, it does give football fans the entertainment of playing around with the data and FutBin allows us to run a particularly interesting study.

Most complete players on FIFA

We decided to find out which players were ranked as the best when all 29 of their in-game attributes were totalled up. Forget icons and special cards, we're talking a fair playing field of normal players.

And you know the results were fascinating when neither Ronaldo nor Messi could break into the top nine. Check out the 30 players that EA consider to be the most complete:

2. Antoine Griezmann (Barcelona) - 2,326

1. Arturo Vidal (Barcelona) - 2,330

Vidal claims top spot

Talk about changing the complexion of the game.

Sure, midfielders have an advantage because of their evenness across defensive and offensive areas, but it's no small feat that Vidal has ousted some of the greatest players in history.

Messi has still done pretty well to reach the top ten when you consider he's penalised for having terrible stats in areas like standing tackle, defensive awareness and aggression.

Nevertheless, it's still more than enough to get the better of Ronaldo who shockingly finds himself behind players such as Kolarov, Paulinho and Florenzi.

It does go to show, however, that the most complete footballers aren't necessarily the best. Messi might not be a jack of all trades, but he's a master of the most important ones.
