Jose Mourinho's Champions League return did not start as planned.

Spurs knew a win against Olympiacos on Tuesday would see Tottenham progress to the knockout rounds.

But they suffered a disastrous start.

Spurs fell 1-0 down after just five minutes when Youssef El-Arabi struck from long range.

And it went from bad to worse for Mourinho and his side when Olympiacos doubled their lead in the 19th minute.

Spurs really weren't in the running at all and were well worth being 2-0 down.

So how did Mourinho react? He wasn't happy, of course, but he wasn't just going to sit there and hope for things to turn around.

Mourinho fielded a defensive lineup with Eric Dier and Harry Winks in midfield.

That didn't work so, after just 29 minutes, Mourinho made the bold decision to take off Dier and replace him with Christian Eriksen.

What a massive call. Mourinho is back, ladies and gentleman.

You've got to admire Mourinho for not being afraid to make tough decisions in times like this.

And it paid off, as well.

Spurs managed to pull one back just before the break through Dele Alli.

The English midfielder found himself unmarked at the back post and halved the deficit.

They drew level just after half-time, with Kane notching five minutes after the break.

And Spurs would win it with two late goals.

Serge Aurier gave gave Spurs the lead in the 73rd minute with a brilliant drive, before Kane made the three points safe four minutes later.

Mourinho has to take a lot of credit for the win. His decision in the 29th minute is exactly why Tottenham have spent big money on him.

Spurs have now qualified for the knockout rounds. Unfortunately for them, they will finish Group B in second and will face a tough tie in the last 16.

But with Mourinho at the helm, Spurs will think they can beat anyone.
