It’s taken Eden Hazard longer than most would have expected to find his feet at Real Madrid. The Belgian winger had only scored one goal in his first 12 appearances for Los Blancos prior to Tuesday night’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.Hazard was signed for an initial fee of €100 million (and potentially rising to €146 million depending on future fees) from Chelsea - and was expected to set La Liga alight. However, there were signs on Tuesday evening that Real Madrid are finally beginning to see the best of Hazard. The 28-year-old played a key role in the game’s opening goal, scored by Karim Benzema, and even nutmegged the referee in the process.

After receiving the ball deep inside his own half, Hazard beat two PSG players with a neat turn after cutting in from the left flank.

He then wrong-footed before allowing the ball to roll between the legs of the Portuguese referee, Artur Soares Dias.

Hazard then played the ball to the right flank and Madrid took the lead seconds later through Benzema after Isco hit the post with the initial effort at goal.

Lovely work from Hazard.

Here’s some of the best reaction from Twitter…

Real Madrid held onto their one-goal advantage at the half-time break - but only after some VAR madness.

PSG were awarded a penalty and Thibaut Courtois was shown a red card for a foul on Mauro Icardi.

But the decision was reversed when Madrid were awarded a free-kick for an earlier incident involving Marcelo.

Zinedine Zidane’s side had already qualified for the knockout rounds following Galatasaray’s 1-1 draw with Club Brugge earlier in the evening.
