Tottenham managed to defeat Olymipiacos 4-2 on Tuesday night to seal their progression to the Champions League knockout rounds.

But the final score does not tell the full story. Not even close.

Spurs went into the game as heavy favourites but went 2-0 down inside 19 minutes.

But they managed to turn it around. Jose Mourinho's side went into half-time a goal down after Dele Alli netted just before the break.

And they completed the comeback thanks to three second half goals, with Harry Kane (2) and Serge Aurier getting on the scoresheet.

Mourinho must take a lot of credit for his side's comeback.

The Portuguese manager realised things were going wrong in the first half and made the gutsy decision to sub off Eric Dier for Christian Eriksen after just 29 minutes.

Not many managers would have made that decision, but it paid off.

Mourinho is often brilliant in his press conferences and he was at it again last night.

The former Manchester United manager began by apologising to Dier for taking him off so early in the game.

"The first thing I want to say is to do publicly what I did in the dressing room which is to apologise to Eric Dier," he said.

"It's never easy for a player but I did it for the team. It was not for Eric playing badly, it was for the team to have different solutions.

"I needed a second man with Dele Alli to come into the pockets and for that I just needed just one midfield player, so it was between Dier and Winks. It's about the team it's not about individuals."

Mourinho was caught thanking a ballboy for his quick reactions before Kane's equaliser.

The Portuguese manager even revealed he invited the ballboy into the dressing room after the game.

"I love intelligent ball boys like I was. I was a brilliant ballboy as a kid," Mourinho told BT Sport, per the BBC.

"And this kid today was brilliant. He reads the game, understands the game and made an important assist.

"He's not there just to look to the stands, lights or scarves. He's living the game and playing it very well."

Mourinho told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I tried to invite him into the dressing room after the game to celebrate with the team but he'd slipped away."

And Mourinho also left the press room in stitches when he answered what he said at half-time to inspire Spurs' comeback.

"If you wait a few months and you buy the Amazon movie, you will get it!" He replied.

It's good to see Mourinho back. The footballing world is a better place with Mourinho as a manager.
