In recent weeks, a debate in the world of boxing has emerged and pretty much taken over the heavyweight division.

Mike Tyson or Deontay Wilder?

Who would win the dream fight and who punches harder?

Unfortunately, we're never going to get an answer with regards to who would win the dream fight, and we probably won't ever be able to work out who punched harder in their prime, but it hasn't stopped every man and his dog from discussing it.

Now, boxing legend George Foreman has weighed in on the debate and he's given his thoughts on who has the harder punch between the American pair.

Speaking to TMZ, Foreman said: "He’s good {Wilder} but he hasn’t approached Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson. No, he hasn’t approached that kind of recognition yet. No way.

"For me, he has to have a performance like Mike Tyson did over Trevor Berbick. Boy, when I saw that, I was down visiting Vegas, and I thought, 'This guy is a nightmare!'"

He added: "I think the Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury rematch would be one of the greatest of all time. Not just today, but of all time.

"If I see that fight, I would say Deontay Wilder has moved up in status and whoever wins the fight will probably be one of the greatest heavyweights of all time."

So despite Wilder's ridiculous knockout stats, Foreman still believes 'Iron Mike' is the man to beat when it comes to being the hardest puncher in heavyweight history.

Statistically Wilder may be the biggest puncher, given how many knockouts he's produced in his career to date, but that hasn't seen Foreman back him, not yet anyway.

As we know, Tyson is out of the game and retired, so if Wilder could go and knock Tyson Fury out in February, and then defeat either Andy Ruiz Jr or Anthony Joshua, then who knows how opinions could change.

We just wish we could have got Mike Tyson vs Deontay Wilder in the ring!
