The 2010s are coming to an end and we’ve been treated to many glorious moments in football over the past 10 years.

The decade began with a World Cup, with Spain becoming champions for the first time after beating the Netherlands in the final.

Then over the course of the following years we witnessed a number of special moments that remind us just why football has captured our hearts.

There’s been the battle between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to be crowned football’s greatest player.

In England, Manchester City became a dominant force - although nobody could stop Leicester City in 2016.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Raheem Sterling are just three of the players to have emerged and developed into superstars but we still never tire of seeing the likes of Andres Iniesta, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andrea Pirlo in action.

And now it’s nearly over. We can only hope the next decade is as good as this one has been.

'The Beautiful Game - 2010's Decade'

A video has been created featuring some of the most iconic goals from the 2010s and it makes for incredible viewing.

It was posted this week by @AFCComps on Twitter and already has nearly one million views at the time of writing.

The video includes Messi’s solo goal at the Bernabeu in 2011, Sergio Aguero’s goal against QPR to clinch the Premier League title for Man City in 2012, James Rodriguez’s volley against Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup and more.

So sit back, relax and enjoy these memorable goals.

Glorious.

Football’s ability to produce moments of drama is unparalleled.

Thierry Henry’s goal on his Arsenal return in 2012, for instance. We saw a legend score for the club where he made his name on his first game back. Incredible.

Then there are the unbelievable goals that left us speechless, such as Ibrahimovic’s overhead kick against England in 2012 or Gareth Bale’s bicycle kick vs Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final.

They’re the goals that will be replayed again and again and again.

And, because they’re so good, we’ll watch one more time.
