Jesse Lingard has scored for Manchester United. On a night where he's captaining his side against Astana in the Europa League, the 26-year-old ended an 10-month goal drought. His last strike came in January 2019, against Arsenal in the FA Cup. Since then, he's played 30 games for club and country. Lingard's lack of goals meant he has been ridiculed by rival fans throughout the year, but the midfielder will be hoping this will be the first of many more to come. We'll have to wait and see if he can push on now.

Not a bad way to end the drought. But unfortunately, that's as good as it got for Man United

Despite going into half-time 1-0 up, Solskjaer's young side slipped up after the break and ended up losing the game 2-1.

Astana scored two goals in seven minutes to complete an impressive turnaround, but it could have been very different.

United's Tahith Chong shockingly missed an open goal with the score still at 1-0.

Luke Shaw squared him the ball and all the 19-year-old had to do was tap in from less than 10 yards.

Instead, he skied his effort over the bar and 38 seconds later, Astana went up the other end to equalise.

Chong's night ended shortly after, as he was subbed off.

But things then got worse for United, as an unfortunate Di'Shon Bernard own goal gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Despite their best efforts, Solskjaer's young side failed to get back on terms and suffered what some would call an embarrassing defeat.

However, with the manager handing first-team debuts to seven different youngsters, the match would have been a very good experience for the next generation of United stars - despite the result.
