A fifth scheduled bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov is reportedly close to being finalised with April 18, 2020 as the touted date. The first four match-ups between the pair were cancelled due to injury problems, but now Ferguson has taken to Twitter stating: "It's time to give the fans what they want."Thirty-one-year-old Nurmagomedov is the reigning lightweight champion and holds an impressive undefeated record having defended his title on three occasions, most recently against Dustin Poirier in September. If the Dagestani fighter chooses former interim lightweight champ Ferguson as his next opponent, he'll be facing a man who has won his last three bouts by stoppage. The 35-year-old American last tasted defeat against Michael Johnson in 2012 and is currently on a 12-fight winning streak.

UFC fans have long anticipated a fight between the pair and Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz appeared to confirm the bout on Tuesday, posting a picture of a contract captioned: “This man has been asking for this a** whooping and now he has earned it. April 18th the eagle will land in Brooklyn one more time. This one is for the fans."

Now Ferguson has responded with a promo video for the fight acknowledging this is the one that UFC fans have been waiting for, stating his intention to take back that lightweight title.

You can watch the epic promo in the video below.

"He is the champ, I was the interim champ, I'm still the f*****g champ."

'El Cucuy' clearly feels, despite his three career defeats, he is the man to dethrone Nurmagomedov.

Either way, with Ferguson receiving 'Fight of the Night' awards in all of his last eight bouts, it is likely to be an explosive event.

Bring on April of next year - we for one cannot wait!
