Manchester United fielded a very young side against Astana in the Europa League. Tahith Chong got his chance from the start, but he might perhaps be wishing he hadn't. Early in the second half, he had a golden opportunity to give United a 2-0 lead, as Luke Shaw squared a pass across goal. All Chong had to do was tap the ball into an empty net, but the 19-year-old completely fluffed his lines and fired his effort over the bar. But things went from bad to worse instantly as 38 seconds later, Astana went up the other end and equalised. Incredible scenes.

Check out the passage of play below:

What a horrible minute for Chong. He was substituted shortly after the incident too.

Incredibly, seven minutes after finding an equaliser, the hosts then completed their comeback to go 2-1 up.

Another of United's youngsters, Di'Shon Bernard turned the ball into his own net. It was a nightmare second half for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Despite pushing to get back on terms, his young players failed to find another goal and suffered their first defeat in the Europa League.

Failing to secure a point also means United have not yet won their group and AZ Alkmaar have the chance to move into top spot later this evening.

If they do, Solksjaer will be unable to really rest players in the final group game - which happens to be at home to AZ.

That could now turn out to be the most important European match of United's season so far.

Despite defeat against Astana though, it's important to remember that Solkjaer handed debuts to seven players on Thursday evening and that can only be good in the long run.
