Conor McGregor is set to make his UFC comeback on January 18, 2020.

Dana White has announced that a fight between the Notorious and Donald Cerrone has been signed and set for UFC 246 in Las Vegas.

McGregor has not been inside the Octagon since October 2018, when he was beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

After that bout, the Irishman announced his retirement - but he has recently been teasing a sensational return on social media.

Now, it's confirmed he'll fight Cerrone in less than two months.

"Conor has signed and Cowboy is ready to go," White told ESPN on Thursday night.

Many had suggested that McGregor's comeback fight would be against Khabib, but it's still unclear if the pair will ever meet inside the Octagon again.

In fact, the 'Eagle' has recently suggested that it's not a fight McGregor even wants.

Honestly I don’t think he wants that fight," Nurmagomedov said, per the Mirror.

"How is that so? I beat him up for four rounds. I beat him and choked him and he tapped. It was a sign he didn’t want to be there, ‘let me go please’ and all that. And now he wants the rematch.

"First of all he has to earn it. We’re in the fourth year since his last victory. It’s been three years and now we’re in the fourth. In order to fight for the title I had to win 10 fights in a row in the UFC.

"Just talking is one thing, but when it comes to doing it, he’s completely different. So for me there are no kind of announcements or insults. He’s an idiot. We don’t pay attention to idiots."

Should McGregor be victorious in his comeback fight against 'Cowboy' Cerrone, he may set his sights on Khabib for later in 2020. Only time will tell.
