Brock Lesnar has gone on hiatus from WWE and won't return until early 2020

Brock Lesnar

Well you just knew this was going to happen, didn't you?

When Brock Lesnar dethroned Kofi Kingston on the first SmackDown on FOX back in October, the WWE Universe collectively sighed at what they had witnessed.

The match lasted just nine seconds, with Lesnar squashing Kofi like he was just a bug on the floor, and since then the New Day member has slipped back into the tag team division with Big E.

Lesnar immediately embarked on a feud with his UFC nemesis Cain Velasquez, but it was puzzling because the match did not need a title on the line, but alas it went ahead at Crown Jewel and Lesnar was victorious in just two minutes.

Following that, Lesnar feuded with Rey Mysterio but that chapter was closed at Survivor Series this past weekend, with Lesnar winning yet again.

Brock Lesnar has already defeated Cain Velasquez and Rey Mysterio since winning the WWE Championship in October

WWE's next pay-per-view is Tables, Ladders and Chairs in mid-December, and you'd expect that both of WWE's top titles would be defended at the event.

But predictably, the WWE Championship will not be on the card.

That's because according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter - per Ringside News - Lesnar is 'on hiatus' from WWE at this very moment in time.

That means he won't be appearing in the whole of December, and his next booked match will be at the Royal Rumble in late January 2020.

Lesnar though won't be defending his WWE Title until January 2020

We all know by now that Lesnar runs on a part-time schedule, and he basically picks and chooses when he wants to appear.

It does mean he is a special attraction but when he holds Raw's top championship, it causes problems for short-term booking.

With Lesnar being off until 2020, it means that the United States Championship will be the prize that the stars of Monday nights will be eyeing up as 2019 draws to a close.

That means Mysterio, the new U.S. Champion, will have a target on his back, and it will be interesting to see what match is made for TLC - a Ladder match between Rey, Ricochet, Andrade and AJ Styles would certainly be an attractive proposition.
