A new documentary following the improbable comeback of former world number one Andy Murray features the distressing moment the Scot revealed he believed his career was over. Murray's return to competition after two bouts of major hip surgery is one of the sport's more unlikely returns and the highs and numerous lows are caught in Amazon documentary 'Resurfacing'.Footage tweeted by Amazon features Murray back in his hotel after a gruelling third round match at the Washington Open against Romanian Marius Copil in 2018. Murray had his first hip surgery in January of that year and the match against Copil, despite ending in victory for the Scot, left him considering whether he'd ever play again.Murray said: "I feel this is the end for me. My body just doesn't want to do it any more and my mind doesn't want to push through the pain barrier any more.

"I was just hoping I was gonna feel better than this after 16, 17 months.

"It was a really emotional night for me because I felt like I'm coming to an end and I'm really sad about that because I really want to keep going but my body is telling me 'no'.

"I'm sorry, I can't keep going."

It wasn't until a pre-tournament press conference in Australia at the start of 2019 that Murray began to publicly admit that he thought his career might be coming to an end.

However, things took a more positive turn for the former Wimbledon champion when he had a successful 'resurfacing' operation on his hip in February, from which the documentary takes its name.

The unlikely comeback story reached a dramatic high last month when he beat Stan Wawrinka to win the European Open, his first ATP Tour singles title since March 2017.
