Luis Suarez has undoubtedly been one of the best strikers of the last decade - even one of the best in the 21st century.

After moving to the Netherlands to join Groningen in 2006, Suarez moved on to Ajax where he first lit up European football.

111 goals in 158 games followed - including 49 in one season - and he earned himself a transfer to Liverpool.

There Suarez became one of the world's best players, winning the European Golden Boot and catching the eye of every club around.

But the Uruguayan really found his home at Barcelona.

He's won four La Liga titles, four Copas del Rey and the Champions League while scoring 187 since moving there in 2014.

Suarez's tally makes him the fourth-highest scorer in Barcelona's history and he'll hope to overtake the great Laszlo Kubala in third-place this season.

In short - Suarez knows a thing or two about playing as a striker and so his thoughts on the three best up-and-coming forwards around are to be listened to.

In an interview with OneFootball.com, Suarez was asked about the current strikers that catch his eye.

"There are a lot of good young players coming through," he said. "Personally, there are several forwards who I follow because I really like the way they play - whether they're young or old. One player I like is Chelsea's [Tammy] Abraham.

"I think he's a really good striker, a good finisher, and his movement is very good - especially for such a young player.

"Another forward I like is Maxi Gómez. Apart from the fact that he's a Uruguayan, he's a player who has the kind of characteristics that every club looks for in a centre-forward and then, obviously there are players like Lautaro Martínez who is also performing to a very high level".

It's difficult to argue with Suarez's choices here as out-and-out strikers.

Credit is due to Abraham, in particular, who unlike the other two, is playing his first top-flight season and thriving with 10 Premier League goals already.

He looks like a 'proper' striker, one who's capable to scoring all types of goals and leading the line on his own.

There's obvious bias with Gomez, of course, but his 31 goals in two season with Celta Viga shouldn't be sniffed at - just ignore his performance against Chelsea in midweek.

Martinez may be the most exciting of the lot, though. Antonio Conte appears to have worked out how to get the best of him at Inter Milan and the 22-year-old has nearly doubled last season's goal-tally already.

He may also be the striker Argentina have wanted - his eight goals in 13 games this year suggest he's the perfect fit for them.

Honestly, all three would make pretty incredible - but expensive - replacements for Barcelona's ageing No. 9.
