Watford have sacked manager Quique Sanchez Flores after just 12 matches in charge.

The Spaniard returned to Vicarage Road for his second spell at the club on September 7, 2019, but failed to improve results.

He took over from Javi Gracia, but won just two of the 12 fixtures, losing six and drawing four.

The Hornets are rock bottom of the Premier League with eight points and Saturday's 2-1 defeat to fellow relegation strugglers Southampton was the final straw.

A club statement from Watford reads: "With regret, Watford Football Club confirms the departure of Head Coach Quique Sánchez Flores.

"Quique is a man of great integrity and it was clear how much he wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately results have dictated our decision, said Hornets' Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury.

"The appointment of a new Head Coach is imminent, and with nearly two-thirds of the season remaining, we will provide all the support necessary to make the coming months successful.

"No further comment from Watford FC will be made until a new Head Coach is announced."

Sadly, the club's decision to sack Flores is hardly surprising - in fact, Watford's record for firing managers since 2012 is quite unbelievable.

Gino Pozzo is starting to get a reputation for being one of football's most trigger happy owners.

Since taking over the club in 2012, 10 different managers have been hired and fired.

Check out how long each lasted below:

Sean Dyche - 49 games
Gianfranco Zola - 75 games
Giuseppe Sannino - 46 games
Oscar Garcia - 4 games
Billy McKinlay McKinlay - 2 games
Slavisa Jokanovic - 36 games
Quique Sánchez Flores - 44 games
Walter Mazzarri - 41 games
Marco Silva - 26 games
Javi Gracia - 66 games
Quique Sánchez Flores - 12 games

That kind of record is really not a great look for Watford. We can only hope that whoever succeeds Flores will last more than 12 matches in the dugout!
