Sheamus made his surprise return to WWE this week on Friday Night SmackDown, and fans can't wait to see who will be his first opponent in the ring.

Sheamus appeared in a backstage segment on SmackDown this past Friday, his first appearance for WWE in over seven months.

The Celtic Warrior had missed the past couple of months of WWE as he was recovering from an injury, but now he's ready to make his return to the ring.

In his promo, Sheamus announced that SmackDown would be his and that he was going to 'ravage' anyone who stood in his way, name dropping 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt, Shorty G, and King Corbin.

The former WWE Champion could make his return to the ring at TLC: Tables, Ladders, And Chairs later this month, so with that in mind, here are five feuds to get him going.

Shorty G

WWE is free to book Sheamus as a face or as a heel, and if they want to go the heel route, we could see him feuding against Shorty G.

Shorty G was one of the superstars called out by The Celtic Warrior on SmackDown. A feud with him will elevate both of their stocks on the blue brand ahead of WrestleMania season.

Shorty G has been looking for another feud since finishing off his rivalry with King Corbin following the King of the Ring tournament. Sheamus would be perfect, especially if he returns as a heel.

Mustafa Ali

Another great feud for Sheamus if he comes back as a heel on is Mustafa Ali, and like Shorty G, he is a rising star on SmackDown.

Ali and Sheamus have very different fighting styles, so it would be interesting to see how The Celtic Warrior's brute fighting style compares against the former 205 Live star's high-flying move set.

Like Shorty G, Ali hasn't had a proper feud in a few weeks after being wrapped up in the men's Survivor Series team, so a match vs Sheamus would be the perfect opportunity to remind everyone of his singles potential.

Shinsuke Nakamura

If WWE wants to book Sheamus as a face in his goal to ravage SmackDown, one possible feud for him could be against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura has become one of the forgotten champions in WWE ever since becoming Intercontinental Champion at Extreme Rules in July, so he needs a good feud to put himself back on the map.

A talented performer like Nakamura too, alongside Sami Zayn, can use heel tactics to drag this feud out into the new year as well. The Intercontinental title is the only championship Sheamus needs to become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE as well.

King Corbin

Another feud for a face Sheamus on SmackDown is King Corbin, who is also one of the superstars he name-dropped during his promo on Friday night.

Corbin has been on the rise ever since winning the King of the Ring tournament, and while he's currently involved in a feud with Roman Reigns, The Celtic Warrior could quickly get himself in the mix with a Brogue Kick.

Sheamus will be looking to rise through WWE ranks quickly upon his return, while Corbin has been tipped to be a future world champion, making this an exciting and unpredictable feud to kick of 2020.

Cesaro

A feud with Cesaro also provides WWE with the opportunity to book Sheamus as a face on SmackDown, but it also gives WWE's creative team to use a specific storyline.

It wasn't long ago that Cesaro and Sheamus were dominating the tag team division as The Bar, but they split up earlier this year due to The Celtic Warrior taking time off. Sheamus, however, may have his own version of the story.

A win in this feud could propel either one of them into a title picture, likely the Intercontinental title, in time for WrestleMania season, and both stars would be deserving of the spot after their service to WWE over the years.
