The pressure is mounting on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United drew 2-2 with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have won just four league games all season and we're now into December.

It's their worst start to a league campaign since 1988/89 - and they finished 11th that year.

Solskjaer's men are now closer to the relegation zone than the top four. Inevitably, that means some fans are beginning to lose patience.

One has taken to Twitter to debunk what he calls the biggest "myths" about Solskjaer.

He addresses several of the main arguments put forward by the United manager's advocates.

The full thread can be seen below:

First, the United fan deals with claims that Solskjaer has "got rid of the deadwood". Nine players left the Theatre of Dreams this summer. Some of those were a loss, such as Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera, while others like Alexis Sanchez haven't been missed.

Yet players like Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira, and Ashley Young are all still at the club - and were given new deals under Solskjaer.

Next, the thread tackles the idea that "his three signings have been the best" this term. Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were the three first-team players to arrive in the summer.

The United fan suggests that for £80million, they could have signed an even better centre-back like Kalidou Koulibaly. He could be onto something. James and Wan-Bissaka have both looked decent, but not as impressive as Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay who are both Academy products.

Solskjaer has also been praised for some because of his "attacking philosophy". There were signs of it on the opening day with a 4-0 win over Chelsea but overall, United still often look to harbour the same lacklustre lot of players as they have since 2013.

'Attacking philosophy' is becoming a by-word for 'can't defend'. Likewise, the thread deconstructs the idea that as a club legend, Solskjaer has overseen a "cultural reboot".

The dressing room still appears to be toxic, with Paul Pogba trying to force a move away and others like Nemanja Matic seemingly unhappy.

Gary Neville is one of those who is keen to defend Solskjaer. He famously said he needs 'three or four transfer windows' to improve the squad.

Unless results improve soon, his old teammate is unlikely to be given that much time.
