WWE Starrcade took place last night and it gave time for Cody Rhodes to reflect on the legacy of his father, Dusty Rhodes.Starrcade was created by Dusty Rhodes in the 1980s for NWA and JCP, and the show was kept alive after JCP was sold to Turner Broadcasting due to financial problems, becoming WCW.After the show was bought by WWE when they bought the rights to WCW in the early 2000s, not a single Starrcade event took place for 17 years until 2017.Now, it is a regular annual event in WWE, and although it's not at the same magnitude it once was, the event still holds a lot of value to many people, including Cody Rhodes. The AEW star paid tribute to his father and the significance of the event on Twitter on Sunday.

He tweeted: "Wondered why I was having such an introspective day. Then I saw Starrcade was happening.

"Gone from this Earth but undeniably Dad has had such a positive influence on pro-wrestling the last few years. It’s wonderful. He believed in making moments that lasted. Live forever Dream!💛"

It's not clear if Cody watched Starrcade last night, but hopefully he wasn't one of the several WWE fans that had issues watching the show due to WWE Network issues.

In the non-televised matches, Seth Rollins defeated Erick Rowan by pinfall, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Miz to retain the Intercontinental Championship, Randy Orton defeated AJ Styles, and Aleister Black defeated Andrade.

Also, Ricochet defeated Andrade, Roman Reigns defeated King Corbin, and Bray Wyatt retained the Universal Championship over Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage Match.

In the televised portion of Starrcade, the show began with The Kevin Owens Show with Flair, but this was interrupted by The O.C.’s Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows.

This led to a match between The Street Profits and Anderson & Gallows, which The Street Profits won.

The Kabuki Warriors successfully defended their Women's Tag Team Championship on the night against the teams of Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks, and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross.

Finally, after Lana announced she had a restraining order against Rusev, a Last Man Standing Match took place between Lashley and Owens instead, only for it to end in a DQ after The Bulgarian Brute intervened.

While this year's Starrcade wasn't a memorable one, it wouldn't have happened without one of the legends of wrestling, Dusty Rhodes.
