Footballers don't have a reputation for being very intelligent. But there are some exceptions. In October, we covered just how smart Romelu Lukaku is.The Belgian footballer is one of the best strikers in the world and he's also highly academic too.He can speak a ridiculous eight languages including Portuguese, Lingala and German. And there's another multilingual player currently plying his trade in Italy.

Henrikh Mkihtaryan only joined Roma from Arsenal in the summer, but he's wasted no time in learning the language.

Mkhitaryan was a substitute against Verona on Sunday but emerged from the bench to score Roma's third and clinch all three points.

And he then conducted his post-match interview in Italian.

"I feel good, I missed playing, two months is too long. It’s a shame but now I feel good and I think it was very important to win today," he said, per RomaPress.

"We didn’t play very well, but the most important thing was the three points.

Wow. So Mhkitaryan is now fluent in Italian just three months after joining.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is that he's now fluent in eight languages. Yes, EIGHT.

He can now speak Armenian, French, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, English, German and Italian.

The 30-year-old learned Russian from his grandmother, who was of Russian ethnicity.

He spent some of his youth in France and picked up the language while his father was playing for ASOA Valence.

At the age of 13, Mkhitaryan made the brave decision to go by himself to Brazil to train with Sao Paulo. He was there for just four months but still managed to learn Portuguese in that time.

In 2010, Mkhitaryan signed for Metalurh Donetsk, and learned Ukrainian during his four-year spell in the country.

And he has since picked up German while at Borussia Dortmund and English while at Manchester United and Arsenal.

To add to his eight languages, Mkhitaryan also has a diploma from the Institute of Physical Culture in Armenia and has studied economics at the St Petersburg Institute.

It seems feasible to say that Mkhiatryan is one of the, if not the most intelligent footballer in Europe.
