Conor McGregor’s pre-fight routine has been revealed.

His self-motivating techniques in the crucial moments before he enters the Octagon can be seen in a video circulating social media before his fight with Chad Mendes.

The Irishman went toe-to-toe with the American in UFC 189 back in 2015. The bout was dubbed as the biggest fight of his entire career at the time.

It was a bout that he won, and with some conviction too. He disposed of the former champion in the second round with a string of brutal unanswered punches. In that victory, he was crowned the interim featherweight champion.

Winning so convincingly boosted the illustrious and controversial career that we are familiar with today. In his following bout, he defeated Jose Aldo before eventually losing out to Nate Diaz in UFC 196.

Now, though, it has been revealed how exactly McGregor was able to rile himself up for the biggest moment of his career at the time.

With his trusty Irish flag wrapped around his shoulders, he was videoed speaking to himself in an attempt to get ready for the event.

He said: "Too much power, too clean, he's too small, too clean, too much distance, too much range, too much confidence."

He hasn’t fought since October 2018, but makes his return on January 18 next year; he will take on Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246.

McGregor also revealed that talking to himself isn’t the only way he likes to prepare for a fight.
He told Men’s Health, as per The Sun: “I don’t eat takeaways. I don’t eat none of that.

“I’ll eat good-quality meats, good-quality greens, good-quality carbohydrates like sweet potato and butternut squash, and that is it.

“I have a sweet tooth — that would be where I’d put on some weight out of fighting, if somebody brings in a pack of cakes and coffee.

“I drink mostly water or coconut water. It’s important to stay hydrated - first thing I do in the morning is stretch and drink water.”
