'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' Season One has dropped today

'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare''s Season One has been released today, and it is absolutely massive.

Ahead of the release, Infinity Ward boldly claimed that we can expect their 'most ambitious season of content ever.'

This was seemingly confirmed a week ago when they tweeted a summary graphic of the free content which would arrive with the Season One update.

It's safe to say that people were not disappointed.

Season One is crammed with new maps, as well as three returning multiplayer favourites from 'Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare'; Crash, Vacant and Shipment.

There's also a new Ground War map called 'Port', alongside two new Gunfight maps called 'Cargo' and 'Atrium.' As well as all that, the summary also boasts 'and more' for new Gunfight maps, so we can expect more information on that in the future.

The drop also boasts two new weapons; the RAM-7 bullpup-style rifle and the Holger-26.

While they're entirely new to the game, they're both variants of popular guns which have previously featured in the CoD franchise. The RAM-7 is basically the TAR-21 from 'Modern Warfare 2', and the Holger-26 is seemingly a variant of the MG36 from 'Modern Warfare 3'.

The summary graphic also boasts three new multiplayer modes; Reinforce, Gunfight OSP and Infected.

Finally, on top of all of that, there's new Spec-Ops content by the name of 'Bomb Squad', 'Grounded', 'Pitch Black', 'Just Reward' and even more!

Activision has warned that some of the content advertised for Season One won't release at exactly the same time as the rest of it, but with plenty more content lined up for the future, it's hard to see how anyone can be upset about this free update.

A blog on the Activision website also announced that crossplay and cross progression would be available for the new content, meaning players won't be limited to their own console's fan-base when playing online.

It also told players to check back there throughout the day, where they'll "fully reveal the 100 tiers of the Battle Pass and reveal Season One in much greater detail."

Just to clarify in case you missed it, this is all free. Absolutely free. Not bad, right?
