Manchester City returned to form against Burnley on Tuesday night.

After a disappointing draw against Newcastle on the weekend, Pep Guardiola's side needed a win to try and get them back in the title race.

And they got just that as they dismantled Burnley 4-1 at Turf Moor.

The Citizens raced into the lead after just 24 minutes.

Gabriel Jesus found himself in a menacing position and curled a beautiful effort into the top corner.

The Brazilian then doubled Man City's lead just after half-time.

Bernardo Silva whipped a ball in from the right and Jesus managed to direct the ball into the top corner.

And then Rodri made the three points safe with an absolute howitzer with 22 minutes remaining.

The ball fell kindly to the Spanish midfielder 25 yards out and he rifled an unstoppable effort into the top corner.

What a hit. Pick that one out.

Nick Pope got no where near that.

That was Rodri's second goal for the club since joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Riyad Mahrez then came off the bench to score City's fourth, before Robbie Brady gave the Burnley supporters something to cheer about when he netted a late consolation goal.

Guardiola will be very happy with his side's performance. They were the better team from start to finish and looked like the team they did last season.

They've now cut the gap at the top of the table back to eight points, but Liverpool can make it 11 once again if they manage to beat bitter rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
