NXT has been victorious for two straight weeks in the viewership over it's competition - All Elite Wrestling - and last week they did it without any main roster superstars. The go-home show to Survivor Series saw the likes of Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins appear, and that helped NXT achieve their first victory since going head-to-head with Dynamite. But the aftermath of the event, in which NXT came out as winners, saw them topple AEW yet again, despite just lagging behind in the 18-49 demographic. The next TakeOver event is not scheduled until February, where the brand will travel to the west coast of America - Portland precisely - and this one will be a stand-alone event and not combined on the same weekend with any other main roster pay-per-view.With that in mind, you could forgive them for 'taking it easy' for a couple of weeks in relation to storylines and big matches - but this is NXT and they do things differently.

Adam Cole hasn't defended his NXT Championship on an NXT show for over two months now, but he has faced Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins and Pete Dunne on SmackDown, Raw and at Survivor Series respectively for his title.

However his drought of putting his strap on the line on Wednesday nights is about to end, as a major high-stakes match was set up for next weeks episode.

The main event last night between Undisputed Era and the team of Tommaso Ciampa, Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee descended into chaos as a referee bump meant Finn Balor made his presence felt.

Lee was able to get the upper hand though, and he even ended up pinning Cole to get the victory for his trio - and then NXT GM William Regal came through with the big announcement.

Next week on NXT, Finn Balor, Ciampa and Lee will all compete in a Triple Threat match, and the winner will face Cole for the NXT Championship on the December 18 episode - which will also see Shayna Baszler put her NXT Women's Title on the line against the fearsome Rhea Ripley.

It's clear to see that Triple H is stacking the final live show before Christmas, and it looks like it's going to be must-see stuff.

At this point you couldn't possibly think that there's one man who is a certainty to win - but whichever superstar does, that match with Cole could be a late Match of the Year contender.
